Socialite and founder of Draw A Smile Uganda, Sasha Ferguson has confirmed split with media and NBS TV personality Canary Mugume.
In a series of Instagram stories, Sasha noted that she is now on a new journey, navigating life alone with her two children, away from their father Canary Mugume.
According to Sasha, Mugume used to hit her, until she could not take it any longer.
She noted that on some days she had to use make-up to cover up bruises and eye drops to cover up blood stains on her eyes.
“There are things you look back to and truly thank God. I will never forget days like this one that required me to cover bruises with make up, eye drops to clear blood stains in the eyes while heavily pregnant,“ Sasha said.
“My prayers go out to all women/mothers that are tied down to any form of abuse at the expense of their lives with the fear of ‘how will it look like to the public‘ ..your life matters and your children need to grow up in a healthy environment,“ She added.
The two dated for over 10 years together before finally tying the note in 2021, in what was a glamorous wedding at Munyonyo that was the talk of town for a while.
In 2024, rumors of their marriage being on tenterhooks spread across social media but the couple denied this snd would occasionally make public appearances together.
In her statement, Sasha said that she tried to talk to their close relatives and family about her struggles but all of them told her to keep quiet and protect Mugume‘s image.
”Those days every inner person I ran to seeking for help told me to sssshhh because someone else’s image would be more at stake than my life. Yes, it was also normalized that women go through these things everyday (oh my! I was so alone) I was always the villain in a well crafted story. At some point after a serious beating …a statement was made “people love me, no one is going to believe you” thats when I knew I was on my own and the only one fighting to protect the children,“ Sasha added.
At the time of this report, Mugume had not yet responded to any of the claims.
